TikTok Tips for Businesses

TikTok for Business

TikTok, while still in an infancy stage, is a social media platform that is both new and refreshing for many media consumers. It can be an extremely useful tool for marketers to be able to capture an audience that they may not otherwise be able to reach in normal means.

Before we dive into the details of how to create a good TikTok presence for your business, let’s first discuss what exactly TikTok is and what it can do. TikTok allows users to be able to post short form video content of all sorts and can engage hundreds or thousands of viewers. Now there are all sorts of ways that businesses can capture this audience, which is what makes TikTok so innovative a product on the market right now. Let’s go over some tips and tricks on how to be able to use TikTok to capture this growing audience.

Keep it short and fun

First things first, one of the most important parts of TikTok is that you need to keep it short and fun. By this I mean you need to be able to make entertaining content that can be digested by a viewer in 15-30 seconds ideally. People don’t want to try and drag through a TikTok just to get to the point at the end, and certainly while they are scrolling through their feed if they aren’t interested enough in a short time period, then they won’t stay to watch what you create.

Be candid

Being candid with your videos is incredibly important to TikTok viewers. So much so, in fact, that spending money for large scale shoots can actually be hurtful to your business in the long run. Video content filmed on an iphone that isn’t dramatically staged and shows the “real” parts of your company are often the most successful ones. Anything from showing off user generated content, to candid videos in the office, to simple product demonstrations or how to videos can capture an audience for your business.

Use music

Tiktok is all about music. Almost any video you see on the platform uses samples of music and it’s really easy to do, so take advantage! It will most certainly boost your engagement and interest from your audience just by putting in simple clips of music. And the best part is that TikTok actually allows you to see what clips are being used the most, so you can gauge which music samples will get you the most views.

Shoot vertical video

This one should pretty self-explanatory but shooting vertical video is hugely important for audiences on TikTok. The whole platform is based around vertical video content, so you should be following suit. No one wants to tilt their phone or their head trying to watch a horizontal video, and most likely it’ll just get skipped.

Challenges are good

In terms of the type of content you can utilize, on TikTok, challenges or hashtags are always what’s popular today. If your business can, take advantage of these challenges as they offer a way to create and attract a huge audience. Using challenges that are trending (and you as a business needs to keep an eye on what’s trending, it changes often) or, if your brand is large enough you can create a new hashtag for users to follow.

Use influencers if applicable

Influencers can be seriously beneficial, especially to companies that supply some sort of product. Anything from clothes, to energy drinks, to any product you can think of. If you can afford it, influencers can be a great way to get the word out about your product, and TikTok is full of influencers and growing in number.
